Zurich A fast and furious ride through

Le jeudi 15 mars 2012 de 18h30 à 22h00.

Zurich, Zurich

Join us for a fast and furious ride through Go theory and practice!

Go is "a new [..], concurrent, garbage-collected language with fast compilation" that came out of Google (http://golang.org/).

First, Luuk van Dijk, a member of the core dev team, will introduce us to the Go language and its main features.

Then, Johan Euphrosine, will take us through the motions of building an actual Go application for the Google App Engine!

This session is as hands-on as you want it to be. Please make sure to bring your laptop with the Go language SDK already installed (see http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/go/gettingstarted/devenvironment.html)

It would be great if you could register on the event page (http://zhgeeks.org/go) since the number of places is limited.

Please note also that this is a joint event, organized with the kind support of the GTUG ZH (http://zurich.gtugs.org/home).

Last but not least: our guests' short biographies:

Luuk van Dijk is a staff software engineer at Google, currently working on the Go compiler. Since joining Google in 2005, he has worked on projects as diverse as geocoding, the Gmail backend, Google News, the Googlebot and Usage Rights.

Johan Euphrosine joined Google in 2011 as a Developer Programs Engineer based in Zurich. He is currently focusing on App Engine. Before Google, Johan was providing development services as a Freelancer around FLOSS.
